Marriage Week
Marriage Week is an annual celebration, initiated in Australia in 2007, to reinforce and promote the benefits and importance of marriage and increase awareness and value of pre-marriage and in-marriage education. The Marriage Course
The aim of The Marriage Course (TMC), which has been developing at Holy Trinity Brompton of Alpha fame since 1996, is to enable married couples, both Christian and non-churched couples, to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime.
Over 8 evenings spent together, usually starting with a shared meal, they learn new skills to enhance their marriages. Their privacy as a couple is always respected as there is no requirement to disclose anything personal to a third party.


Mothers of Pre-school Children (MOPS)
Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) is an international organisation and began in Townsville with a group of young mothers in 2004. Under the banner of the Combined Churches of Townsville, currently 90 Ladies are registered with MOPS and over 40 regularly attend. Mothers arrive with their children and sign them into the loving care of the MOPPETS program, while the mums can have a cuppa and something to eat with the other mums. National Day of Thanksgiving (NDOT)
National Day of Thanksgiving was launched in 2004 by the Australian Prayer Network, with the support of Prime Ministers, Governor-Generals and Opposition leaders, national prayer and ministry organisations and church leaders. Celebrated on the Last Saturday in May, it is a day for all Australians to pause and say thank you to God, and to each other for those many things we often take for granted - those things that really make our lives worth living. In Townsville, The National Day of Thanksgiving is organised by the Combined Churches and the Townsville City Council. In 2011 the Combined Churches took breakfast to 450 Council workers to say “Thank you” for their hard work and commitment to the clean up after cyclone Yasi. Read more...


Neighbour to Neighbour (N2N)
Neighbour 2 Neighbour was initiated by a group of pastors who were inspired by the neighbourly love expressed during the difficult times of the Queensland floods and cyclone Yasi. Many volunteers from the Combined Churches of Townsville with the full support of the Townsville City Council, have assisted elderly and disabled people by providing meals, cleaning buildings, rubbish removal, gardening, child-minding, washing clothes, providing temporary accommodation and compassionately listening to people. The Townsville Street Chaplains provide compassionate care without prejudice or judgment to anyone in need in the nightclub area every Friday and Saturday night from 11pm to 5am. Initiated with Townsville City Council and founded in 2010, Townsville Street Chaplains is a service run by volunteers from the Combined Churches Townsville. Read more...

Pioneers is an international mission movement, made up of people from all over the world who are passionate for God, and are committed to knowing Him more fully, and making Him known. Hope supports Christine, a high-school teacher in Africa.


Stable on the Strand
Townsville’s Annual 5 Day Christmas Festival on the Strand complete with Roman soldiers, traditional craftspeople, livestock, shepherds and of course Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. This interactive re-creation of the traditional Christmas story is a FREE event for the whole family. Stable on the Strand was awarded the honour of the “2010 Community Event of the Year” and also “Townsville Arts Award for Event/Festival.” The festival is organised by the Combined Churches of Townsville (with over 700 volunteers from over 60 churches), the Townsville City Council and has widespread business and community support. Bereavement by Suicide Support (BSS) group
Living Hope is the Salvation Army Suicide Bereavement Support Programme which provides user friendly, accessible information, training and support in the area of suicide prevention and bereavement. The Townsville BSS Group (and initiative of Living Hope) meets fortnightly. The group is structured so that those bereaved can share their experience as well as working in a more structured way in managing and moving through their grief.


Walk of Witness
Walk of Witness is an international event. Each year in May the Combined Churches of Townsville have a week celebrating Christian unity across the world and locally celebrated by having a “Walk of Witness” in the city. Commencing in 2009 in Townsville, Walk of Witness recognises the power of Christians across denominations working, witnessing and walking together in our faith in our wider community. Read more...

Medical Ships Australia is focused on overcoming poverty and saving lives through delivering sustainable, capacity-building services.
